This year VHD is part of Yuletide (www.yuletidetreasure.org), the annual small fandom holiday fic exchange, so I've been thinking more about VHD fanfic than I usually do. I started wondering -- what are some of the VHD fanfics you've enjoyed over the years? Here are a few of my favorites:

It's that time again. Stuff I am loving on this week:
-Halloween costumes! It is just like a con, only much bigger.

-Working on the Adventures of Kairi. Oh man, you guys, I am going to have some fun things to show you.
-Animorphs online!! I, I can finish the series years and years after I stopped reading them!
-xkcd, never stop being awesome.
-Kotaku's dorky pumpkin patch - one, two, three, four.
-Sephora and new lip colors. (Oh addiction.) I finally picked up a pink to match that dress I bought in summer, and this in Joy, which is a gorgeous bloody red.
-Danny Choo's blog, particularly the figure porn.
-This figure. Want want want. Alternate.
-This elf policy poem, and the elf insurance in the comments.
-All of the V discussion sparked as a result of the remake. Hee hee hee. ♥
-Cab rides, bat buttons, Ariel, buttoned cuffs, Charleston Chews!!, The Darkside, Yoko, costume construction, red wire, Just Die Already, trick or treating, this amazing chip packaging, wakeboard IN SPACE, autumnal colors, a bus shelter made out of buses, Trogdor, rickrolling, fruit bats and oral sex (and researchers puzzled as to why they would do that - lol, dudes, lol), turkey salad, this pumpkin head dance, orangutans, gunslingers, zombie hunter Velma and Scooby, gummi bikes, Colored, having tea in math, watching a forklift driver demolish a vodka warehouse, the corn strapon pumpkin, this Guide to Aging Characters, the average color of the universe (ought to be octarine, of course), voting, this FABULOUS 8-bit makeup, every day's great at your Junes, the ALSO FABULOUS urban cursor that tracks its movements in Google Maps, dorking up my notes (a town's population grows at 5% due to all of the Heartless refugee immigration), Ek's TJA process work for NaNoManGo, I've Discovered Something Amazing! Again!, I'M HARPO, practicing facial expressions.

It's been a busy, yet strangely unproductive couple of days! I want to make sure I stay accountable to my productivity (or lack thereof!) so I know where I stand and how much work I need to do to catch up. How are you guys doing?

So, I'm plugging right along if not exactly making my target each day. I STILL have no idea of how this story is going to progress. I'm working on that outline, and I at least need to have an ending in mind, and then I can just wander there.

Yaaaaaay election day! I love this day, even if the candidates here in Jersey are far from anything I'm happy to vote for. But vote I did, as all of you who are able should do! I was voter number 12 in my ward, but alas, no "I voted" sticker for me. Woe. Bob, Papa John, and I had a nice conversation about how dismal the candidates were/are, and Bob didn't harass me at all! It was a miracle, really. I worked in the stock room most of the day again, and it was sooooo much fun because Mickey came in for a part in the morning and he, Kenny, and I were talking politics (in a humorous way) and just having a grand old time. I can't say it enough how much I love working with most of these people, specifically because of times like that.
Last night I was talking to in_the_memoria as usual and there was a RSS update for Manly during the conversation. It happened to be pertinent, as it was about Canada... ( I really do love the Canadians on my f-list, so please don't get mad at me. )
In Iron Kingdom I got to the chapter that looks at the Silesian Wars and the War of Austrian Succession. I was sitting at my desk with this stupid grin on during the breaks while I was reading. I can't wait until I'm finished with the khr_undercover piece so that I can set free all the Hetalia bunnies I've got.

1 BENNIE K - "Sky" [Japanese, Urban]
[lyrics] This is actually one of the first songs I downloaded when I was getting into Japanese music. There's something about it that just stuck to me back in high school, probably because of stuff I was going through at the time. It's one of those songs I'll belt out while listening to it without caring about who may hear me, even if some of the rap parts are silly.
2 Eagle Eye Cherry - "Save Tonight" [English, Pop Rock]
[lyrics] This song was popular when I was in elementary school, and I love it just as much now as I did back then.
3 OLIVIA - "Sea Me (English Version)" [English, Alternative/Pop Rock]
[lyrics] Fffff, Olivia is awesome. She's one of those artists I play loudly and sing along with. I know a lot of her fans didn't like her change to a more pop-y sound after her work on the NANA anime, but I enjoy her whole body of recordings.
4 AKB48 - "Seifuku ga Jama wo Suru" [Japanese, Pop]
[lyrics] There's a lot wrong with this song, but that doesn't stop me from liking it. It's just so darn catchy. u_u
5 DOES - "Shura" [Japanese, Rock]
[lyrics] I love DOES and this is the first song I heard by them (thanks, Gintama). It makes me want to get up and rock. Or drive really quickly somewhere to have an adventure.
6 the GazettE - "SILLY GOD DISCO" [Japanese, Visual Kei]
[lyrics] The GazettE is one of those bands I tend to listen to more when I'm angry (I played them basically all day the last time Gil went in for work), but this song makes me laugh no matter what. I think it's because of its title and the random English that tries to be inspiring. Oh Ruki, rock on, man. Rock on.
7 the Aquabats - "Super Rad!" [English, Third Wave Ska]
[lyrics] I've loved the Aquabats since I was in elementary school, they're just a fun band that makes me happy. This song in particular always gets me up and skanking or doing the stomp or just dancing like a lunatic. Best when listened to with friends.
8 Five Iron Frenzy - "See the Flames Begin to Crawl" [English, Third Wave Ska]
[lyrics] FiF.... T_T This song still makes me really sad. I first heard it after seeing them on their farewell tour (back during my sophomore year in high school) and it made me cry really hard. It also inspired a poem I wrote junior year in high school that kind of freaked out my classmates. orz
9 Anna Nalick - "Satellite" [English, Soft Pop]
[lyrics] Anna Nalick is one of the artists I listen to when I'm sad and can't help but wallow in it.
10 Nightwish - "She Is My Sin" [English, Symphonic Power Metal]
[lyrics] I'm coming out: I love symphonic metal. And this song is pretty much only here to share the love, since it's not an especial favorite. |

Uh... hey! I just now found this community. I'm a little slow on the uptake, perhaps, but I only really seriously started getting into Hellsing last winter. Ok... maybe that marks me as very slow on the uptake. I saw the original TV series years ago, wasn't hooked, and only recently discovered the joy and wonder that is the OVAs and the manga... *drools* Anyways, I thought that in honor of me finally finding this community... I'd post a couple pictures of my Otakon Girlycard cosplay. I have four uploaded right now on my DeviantArt page... but if people are interested in me hunting down more Otakon Hellsing cosplay pics (of people other than me)... I'll root through my photos and see what I can come up with! Anyways, in these pictures, I'm the Girlycard! Credit for making the long coat goes to my talented sister. She offered to make me a cosplay piece for a college graduation gift.
Girlycard and Alucard: My brother is the Alucard pictured. What you can't tell in the picture is that the hellhound hand piece's mouth opens up to gape frighteningly wide!
Girlycard vs Walter: Looks like Girlycard is losing! There were a lot of Walters at Otakon, come to think of it...
Girlycard and Walter: See? A different Walter! It was truly a great con to be a Girlycard.
Jan Valentine's bad day: There is a decent explanation in my comments for the pic there, and I'm too lazy to summarize.. >>
Photo gallery with Integra and Girlycard: This was taken at Anime Mid-Atalantic... not Otakon like the name of the gallery would suggest. My talented sister is Integra and she made the overcoat and the suit jacket she's wearing. My other friend is the Speed Racer. Heh heh... not Hellsing... but... er.. still good cosplay!
And, that's all I have readily available. But like I said, if people are interested in seeing more cosplay pics, I'll see what I can dig off memory cards and such! I need to organize my photos anyways...

I just finished reading Dracula, The undead, ( the sequel to the original Classic, and we all know, Kohta Hirano based most of hellsing on ''DRACULA'' By bram stoker, well, this sequel have so much hellsing/kind references that it's just amazing, and mostly on the last chapters of the manga, and ''dracula's personality and most the well known vampire's abilities, i hate spoilers so go ahead and try to get your hands on this book, just as i did with the historian, Im sure Hellsing's fans will loved it as much as i did. |

Not sure if this is a legal posting - but I've been looking to buy a Hellsing patch for FOREVER (the kind the soldiers wear - the "we are on a mission from GOD" coat of arms), and since I wasn't able to find any ANYWHERE, I finally broke down and had a lot of 100 made at a custom patch making place. If any other Hellsing lovers out there are interested, you can message me on there, or I have a temp listing up on ebay too...

As some of you know, I am a fan of Legacy of Kain. The story is great, the characters are from out of a Greek tragedy, and the world has depth. All in all, it's a very moody, and great series that is bigger than the sum of its parts.
Which is why the news that a movie is being made...directed by Uwe Boll....terrifies me.
For those of you not familiar with Boll, every time he makes a movie it's like he took a massive dump in the middle of the room. It's rude, it stinks, and nobody wants it. The guy is an ass. |
